The Forgotten Artist

The Forgotten Artist

March is Women’s History Month.  As far as I am concerned this is Evylena Nunn Miller’s month.  Born on July 4, 1888, she became a great teacher and artist.  This was a time when women were to stay at home to raise vegetables and children.  Instead Evylena followed her passion, painting hundreds of canvasses, giving many away to friends, family and organizations, and helping women to be viewed as equals with male artists.  Her story, The Forgotten Artist, will be…

Happy New Year, 2020!

Happy New Year, 2020!

This year, 2020, promises to be exciting with several book talks already arranged.  Plus–my next book will be published sometime this summer.  Forgotten Artist is about Evylena Nunn Miller, a landscape artist, the youngest to have her paintings in the Smithsonian.  She has a wonderful story and I am honored to be able to share it with you.  I’ll keep you posted as we move into this new year.  A reminder:  if you have purchased one of my books, don’t…

St. Francis Yacht Club

St. Francis Yacht Club

I am honored to have been asked to speak at the beautiful and prestigious St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco during their Wednesday luncheon on August 21, 2019.  The Club is located on Marina Blvd. right on the San Francisco Bay with incredible views of the Golden Gate Bridge.  What a delightful way to spend a Wednesday in August. I will be talking of course, about “Dearest Minnie, a Sailor’s Story“.  So few  know much about Teddy Roosevelt’s Great…

Summer Writing

Summer Writing

For the past six weeks I have been re-working my next book, The Forgotten Artist.  This is a wonderful biography of Evylena Nunn Miller; my great aunt, who was a landscape artist born in 1888.  Not only was she a great and well-known artist in her time but a writer and teacher as well.  What is amazing to me is her knowledge about marketing and net-working.  My books would be selling like ‘hot cakes’ if she was in charge.  The…

March 19, 2019

What a delightful time I had on Tuesday, March 12th at the Oregon Coast Learning Institute in Gleneden Beach, Oregon. I spoke to a crowd of about 40 people on one of my favorite subjects: Teddy Roosevelt’s Great White Fleet. I so enjoy presenting this topic with the many postcards I have inherited and collected to people who know very little about this subject. I always encounter a welcoming group of people and this time was no exception. I enjoyed…

Welcome to 2019

Welcome to 2019

I am a bit late with my ‘welcome’ and did not spend time in January promoting my books. I needed a break but I am now ready to surge ahead. Tuesday, March 12th I will be giving a talk and Power-point presentation to OCLI, (Oregon Coast Learning Institute) close to Lincoln City. I always enjoy giving presentations about my book, Dearest Minnie. It is such a unique and obscure piece of history told with colorful postcards for that event. My…
